“VeloFest” is a platform for bicycle promotion as a way of living: transport, recreation, inspiration for works of art or just an adventure and fun.

Bill of Rights

1 Copyright and Permissions

 

1.1 By submitting images to the VeloFest Call for Macedonian Bicycle Photography you confirm that for each image submitted:
- You have read and understood these Terms and Conditions for the Call.
- You alone are the author of your image and that it is your original work,
- You are the sole copyright holder,
- You have not licensed any rights in the image that conflict with the usage rights required by the VeloFest organizer,
- You have the permission of any persons in the image, or if they are under 18, the consent of their parent or guardian, to grant the usage rights required by the VeloFest organizer,
- You have permission from the owners of property shown in the image to grant the usage rights required by the VeloFest organizer,
- That it does not include trademarks, contract rights, or any other intellectual property rights of any other third person or entity,
- That it does not contain names, likenesses, or other characteristics identifying celebrities or other public figures, living or dead,
- You will be responsible for any claim made by any third party in respect of Your entry and to fully indemnify the VeloFest organizer and its sponsors/partners in respect of all royalties, fees and any other monies owing to any person or entity by reason of Your breaching any of the foregoing.

 

1.2 VeloFest organizer reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any entry that does not comply with any of the above, even after the entry is submitted on the VeloFest’s website.

 

2 Unacceptable Content

 

2.1 VeloFest organizer reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any entry:
- That contains personally identifiable visual information about You or any other person,
- That contains threatening, false, misleading, abusive, harassing, libelous, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, scandalous, inflammatory, pornographic or profane content,
- That contains any material that could constitute or encourage conduct which would be considered a criminal offence, give rise to civil liability, or otherwise violate any law.

 

2.2 You agree to fully indemnify the VeloFest organizer and its sponsors/partners in respect of all costs owing to any person or entity arising by reason of Your breaching any of the foregoing.

 

3. Your Copyright and Moral Rights

 

VeloFest respects photographers’ rights and does not claim copyright for images You submit to this contest, You will retain full copyright in each entry.

 

In addition your moral rights are respected. Whenever Your image is published by the VeloFest organizer and its partners You will be credited. Failure to publish a credit due to error or oversight shall not be deemed a breach of this condition.

 

4. Use of Images

 

4.1 By entering this call You agree that any image You submit may be used by the VeloFest organizer and its partners solely for marketing and promotional purposes of VeloFest or future festivals and no other purpose, these uses include:
- judging the call,
- displaying the entries on the VeloFest’s website and websites of partners,
- displaying the entries at public exhibitions to promote VeloFest,
- displaying the entries in a book, magazine or similar,
- publishing the entries on posters to promote VeloFest,
- publishing the entries on postcards to promote VeloFest,
- publishing the entries on a calendar to promote VeloFest,
- publishing the entries on other media to promote VeloFest,
- cropping and re-sizing the image as necessary to fit pre-defined formats to promote VeloFest,
- sub-licensing the entries to the press for reproduction in connection with VeloFest and any related exhibition, and
- inclusion within any materials promoting VeloFest or any exhibition of images from this call organized by the VeloFest organizer.

 

4.2 You hereby grant the VeloFest organizer a non-exclusive, irrevocable licence in each Entry throughout the world in all media for the uses described in 4.1 above for three years following the date of announcement of the winners.

 

4.3 The author may donate the above non-exclusive license to the VeloFest organizer for an indefinite time, at his/hers own will.

 

4.4 In exception to 4.2, the winning entries published on the VeloFest 2010’s website will remain on that year’s web site as an archive to the festival.

 

4.5 You acknowledge Your responsibility for protecting your Entry against image misuse by third parties, by for example, but not limited to, the insertion of a watermark. VeloFest organizer and its partners can assume no responsibility and are not liable for any image misuse.

 

4.6 Should any image uses beyond those needed to promote VeloFest arise You will be contacted and given the opportunity to negotiate any such usage with the parties concerned independently of the call.

5 Submission, Judging, Releases & Closing Dates

 

5.1 The VeloFest Call for Macedonian Bicycle Photography is open to all photographers, amateur or professional.

 

5.2 Entries must be submitted no later than Friday, 19th March 2010.

 

5.3 To enter, you must send your photo via e-mail to the dedicated address: photo [at] velofest.mk.

 

5.4 The photographs should be of minimal resolution of 2 Mega pixels and maximum size of 10 Mega bytes.

 

5.5 The photographs should be in JPEG, EXIF 2.1 format.

 

5.6 There is no limit of number of photographs by one author.

 

5.7 Each photo submission must be accompanied by this form, dully filled.

 

5.8 Photographs must be taken after 1999.

 

5.9 Photographs must be taken in Macedonia.

 

5.10 This year’s topic is “Urban Cycling”.

 

5.11 The photographs must be with minimal, or no manipulation.

 

5.12 The photographs will be judged by a selection of juries, photographers and cyclists, between the 20th March 2010 and the 1st April 2010.

 

5.13 A shortlist of up to thirty photographs will be selected and announced from 1st April 2010.

 

5.14 The winners will be announced on the award ceremony.
